Alice L. Trexler

Petersburgh – Alice L. Trexler, 80, died peacefully Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT with her loving family at her side.  Born in Petersburgh on January 24, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Alfred Moon who raised her.  A lifelong resident of Petersburgh, Alice “lived on the mountain” her whole life.  [private]trexler-w She was employed by the Nancy Shoe Factory in Hoosick Falls, the Pownal Tannery in Pownal, VT and last by the New York State Dept. of Transportation in Petersburgh for 10 years.
She was a member of the Polish Club in Hoosick Falls, the Petersburgh Rod & Gun Club, and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Berlin. She enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting and bird watching.
She is the beloved wife of 35 years of Leonard G. Trexler; devoted mother of Linda Sheridan of Petersburgh, Raymond (Emily) Harrison of Petersburgh, Randy Harrison of Bennington, VT, Kevin Harrison of Altamont, Kathy “Mother” Harrison of Troy and the late Cindy Harrison who died in 1999; adored grandmother of Michael, Stevie, Stacey “the Nurse,” Chrissy, Laurie, Billy, Lin, Josh, Zach, Paige, Brooke, Drew, Hunter, Sam, Erin and 14 great-grandchildren; step-mother of Greg and Matt Trexler and Terri Kaschak and the late Patrick Trexler; sister of Helen Cook and Robert Moon, both of Petersburgh, and the late Alton and Harry Moon.  Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held Wednesday January 20 at 11 am at the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home in Petersburgh with her brother-in-law, Rev. Donald Trexler, officiating. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Tuesday evening.
