Berlin Town Officials Are Sworn In And Year End Bills Paid
By Doug La Rocque
As the old year drew to a close, the recently re-elected Berlin town officials gathered at the Town Hall for a swearing in ceremony. Outgoing Justice Joe Rechen did the honors, as the town officials stepped up one by one to raise their right hand and place their left on a bible from the 1980s that has been in Supervisor Rob Jaeger’s family for some time. [private]Taking the oath of office beside Supervisor Jaeger, were Councilmembers Dean Maxon and Tara Fisher. Town Clerk Ann Maxon and Assessor Dave McNally were joined by Tax Collector Pamela DeShane as officials taking the oath for another term in office. The only newcomer was Christina Vanko, who is replacing outgoing Justice Rechen.
Following the ceremonies, the Board met in formal session to approve all the remaining bills against the town, so the 2015 books can be settled. By motion, they directed the Bookkeeper Maureen Seel to forward to the Supervisor, all budget line changes that need to be addressed. It is the Board’s plan to finalize these changes at its January meeting and then close the books on 2015. The Board went into executive session to discuss personnel matters before adjourning for the year.
The Board’s next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 14 at 7:30 pm.[/private]
