Large Turnout For Feed Your Soul-Feed Your Neighbor Event
submitted by Aelish Nealon
Nearly 300 community members turned out for HAYC3’s “Feed Your Soul, Feed Your Neighbor” event at the HAYC3 Armory last Friday. Over 275 servings of 8 varieties of mac-and-cheese were served with attendees also enjoying an art and photography show and live music provided by James Tennyson. Portions were served in a take-home hand-painted mug designed by community members while they lasted.

Members of local organizations and businesses including Immaculate Conception Church, Lumberjack’s Coffee Shop, St. Mary’s Academy, All Saints church, Hoosick Falls Kiwanis, St. Mark’s Church, Hoosick Falls Cadette Scouts Troop #1259 and an amazing amount of community volunteers were on hand to assist with the event.
According to the Scouts’ leader Christine Still, “The Girl Scouts are very active in supporting local community in their efforts to feed our neighborhood. This event was a perfect way we do that and teach our girls how to be leaders for tomorrow which is at the core of Girl Scouting.”
Funds from the event will go to support St. Mark’s free monthly community dinners, Immaculate Conception’s holiday food baskets, and our local food pantry to feed our neighbors throughout the year.
HAYC3 would like to thank the many individuals who donated their time and talents painting mugs and baking sweet treats.
Thanks also to local individual chefs and restaurants, including Man of Kent, The Sand Bar, Hoosick Falls Country Club, Bagel & Brew for their contributions of mac-and-cheese. Special thanks to Brundige Insurance for sponsoring the event.
