Hoosick Grange had a covered dish supper on December 9, 2015. They had the Van Rensselaer Masons as their guests. The master, David Cornell, welcomed the Masons. We were so lucky that the weather was good. After a delicious supper, it was time for the lecturer’s program.
[private]The lecturer, Corinne Philpott, introduced Jani Brugge and her husband to the Grange. Jani is a music teacher, and can play most instruments. She started the program with picking someone from the audience to play with her. Most people in the audience couldn’t play, but that didn’t matter. She had the person play four or five notes, over and over, and she played a song with it. It sounded good.
She told us a story about the song “You Are My Sunshine.” In the story she plays the same song over and over and differently to fit the story. You should have heard the Jazz and Funeral arrangement. You wouldn’t know it was the same song. It was very interesting. Her husband accompanied her on an instrument.
Everyone played a note or two on the instrument she gave them. It sounded good. They didn’t know they could play. Everyone enjoyed the music and she closed with everyone singing “Silent Night”. ·The lecturer thanked Jani and her husband for a fun night.
The next Grange meeting is on January 13, the 108th Anniversary of the Grange. The meeting will start at 8 pm and we hope it’s a good night. Grangers bring cookies or goodies. If the weather is bad and the meeting has to be cancelled, the next meeting will be January 27. [/private
