John J. Schipisch

Salem – John D. Schipisch, 61, of Salem, passed away with his wife at his side, Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Indian River Rehabilitation Home in Granville, NY, after a courageous battle with cancer.

[private]Ob-Schipisch-wJohn was born May 6, 1954 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late John and Anne (Hoar) Schipisch. John grew up in Queens, NY and graduated from Regis High School in NYC. He then attended St. John’s University in Queens, NY and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy. John worked as a pharmacist and owned Drake’s Pharmacy in Poultney, VT until retiring in 2014. John had many hobbies including stamp and coin collecting, model trains and gardening. He was an avid NY Yankee fan.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-four years Bonnie (Breese) Schipisch of Salem and two cousins.Graveside services will be Friday January 8, at 2 pm at Hoosick Rural Cemetery in Hoosick. There will be no calling hours. Family and friends will gather at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls on Friday at 1:30 pm then proceed to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.[/private]
