The Petersburgh Public Library invites everyone to a library open house on Saturday, February 6 from 10 am until noon. We would invite you to sign up for a library card if you do not already have one so you will be able to make use of all the library services both at the library and on line. [private]Did you know that you can download your choice of thousands of books or movies from the library Overdrive website, all for free with a library card? If you have a Kindle, Nook, tablet or smart phone many titles are available to you. If you have a new device and would like help setting it up to get the books, you are welcome to stop in any time with your device for assistance, or come to the open house when some devices will be available for you to see. Did you know that there is a lot of local history on the website? A computer will be available to see what is available on line and you can see what is available at the library.
Other activities at the library include a book discussion group which meets at 7 pm on the second Wednesday of the month. The next meeting will be February 10 when the book, “All The Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr will be discussed. An informal knitting group meets Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5 pm so if you are available any time during that time span you are welcome to come or if you need assistance with a project please join us. Preschool story hour meets Tuesday mornings at 11 am for a time of play, stories, crafts and snacks. All preschoolers and their caregivers are invited. Don’t worry if your child does not like to sit still. There is plenty of space to move around and have fun.
Children are invited to the open house as well since it is the national “Bring your child to the library day.” There will be crafts, legos available to build a project to display at the library, and of course many books to sign out. Children in kindergarten and older are invited to get a library card of their own.[/private]
