Rensselaer Land Trust Purchases Additional Land To Expand The Robert P. Ingalls Nature Preserve In Stephentown

January 7, 2016 By eastwickpress

submitted by Kristina Younger

Rensselaer Land Trust, with the help from some very generous anonymous donors, purchased an additional 20.52 wooded acres to expand the Robert P. Ingalls Nature Preserve on Horseheaven and Garfield Roads in Stephentown.  With these additional acres, the public preserve totals 50.52 acres.

[private]The Robert Ingalls Preserve will be open for fishing, hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, birding, dog walking and environmental education.  A foot bridge built this fall by Michael Beskid for his Eagle Scout Project, spans the Black Brook, a native brook trout spawning stream that flows through a scenic ravine in the preserve.  The trail network will be expanded to include this new addition in the spring of 2016.

The Robert P. Ingalls Preserve is named in memory of Rensselaer Land Trust’s LT’s Vice President and long time Board of Director Bob Ingalls.

“We are grateful to our supporters that have made this expansion possible.  It is a fitting way to honor Bob and the community that he loved.” said Kristina Younger, Rensselaer Land Trust President. [/private]
