Shirley R. Strait

Berlin – Shirley R. Strait of Bennington, VT passed away on January 9 at Fillmore Pond surrounded by family.[private]Shirley was born September 2, 1922 to Effie and Jesse Robinson. Shirley is survived by two daughters Joanne Riccardi of Bonita Springs, FL and Colleen Dewey of Bennington, VT; four grandchildren, Stephanie Foy, Charles Riccardi, Kyle Jansen and David Jansen; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is predeceased by her husband Lloyd Strait Sr. and her son Lloyd Strait Jr.

Shirley graduated from Mildred Elley in 1941. Shirley and her husband owned Strait’s Corner Store and a floral business in Berlin for many years. She then set her sights on a new career in banking and worked at Fleet Bank until her retirement in 1987. Upon retirement Shirley’s devotion was to her family. She was loved and admired by many, and cherished by all.

At her request an intimate service with her immediate family has been arranged under the direction of Hanson & Walbridge funeral home.
