A Sunday morning fire at 19 Wall Street gutted the upstairs level of a garage. The fire got a big head start before the call came. When the Hoosick Falls Fire Department arrived, the smoke was pouring out of all openings and fire was shooting sideways out a window at the rear of the structure. [private]

Only quick work setting up hoses to get water on the fire by the responding departments kept the garage from being totally destroyed. Wall Street, located on Clay Hill, is the short street across Mechanic Street from the Polish Hall and continuing to Davis Street.
It was unknown at the time who is the owner of the property. The owner, or possibly tenants, were not at the residence and were unable to be located.
Fire departments from Hoosick Falls, Hoosick, Pittstown, Johnsonville and North Hoosick responded to the scene. It was a busy weekend for all those departments responding after spending a good part of Saturday morning and early afternoon battling a fire in Pittstown on a bitterly cold day. Then, to top off their St. Valentine’s Day weekend, Hoosick Falls and North Hoosick assisted in transferring residents of the Danforth Adult Home to the North Hoosick Fire Department and Health Center after frozen pipes burst and saturated areas of the building.[/private]
