Fly Fishing On The Rensselaer Plateau

February 25, 2016 By eastwickpress

Conservationist, ecologist, educator and avid fly fisherman Frank Cuttone will share stories about “Fly Fishing on the Rensselaer Plateau” on Thursday evening, March 10, at Sand Lake Town Hall.

[private]Sponsored by The Rensselaer Plateau Alliance, the talk will touch on the importance of the Poestenkill and Quackenkill watersheds, and the conservation and ecology measures important to their health.

Cuttone will also discuss the local efforts by Trout Unlimited, the national non-profit organization dedicated to conserving, protecting and restoring North America’s cold water fisheries and their watersheds.  He’s a past president, and current officer, of the group’s local chapter, and is a frequent lecturer on fly fishing for Hudson Valley Community College’s Center for Creative Retirement.

The Rensselaer Plateau Alliance and Trout Unlimited share similar goals.  RPA is focused on conserving and promoting the natural resources, wildlife habitats and recreation areas of eastern Rensselaer County.

Sand Lake Town Hall is at the intersection of Routes 43 and 66 in Sand Lake.  The talk begins at 7 p.m. A $5 donation is suggested.[/private]
