Girl Scouts Collect 500 Pounds Of Food For Local Food Pantries

Girl Scout Service Unit 154 has been collecting food donations throughout December and January on behalf of the communities’ local food pantries as well as the Berlin Elementary School’s weekend and holiday pantry.  Troops contacted community organizations and asked for donations at meetings and placed boxes in public places across the four towns.

This past week, girls came together to sort, divide and distribute over 500 pounds of food to help our food pantries meet the needs of local families during these months of higher heating bills.

Girl Scouts would like to thank the many organizations who donated food and the following food drop off locations: ATER, Great Barrington; Flying Arrow Sporting Goods, East Greenbush;  Gardner’s Restaurant, Stephentown; Grafton Library; Knucklehead’s Restaurant, Stephentown; Petersburgh Library; Petersburgh Town Hall; Pizza Plus Restaurant, Stephentown; St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Stephentown; Samaritan Hospital, Troy; Stephentown Post Office; Stephentown Town Hall; Zwack’s Manufacturing, Stephentown.[/private]
