On Friday, February 5, from 1 to 6 pm, the Hoosick Falls Baptist Church on Main St. will host Hoosick Falls’ first blood drive of the year.
[private]Many have questioned if it is safe for Hoosick Falls’ residents to donate blood, given the Village water situation.
Officials from both NYS Department of Health and the Red Cross have assured the public this is not a problem. A formal statement is being prepared by the Red Cross to that effect. When it is received, it will be posted on Hoosick has Heart and Hoosick Community Facebook pages, as well as the Town of Hoosick and Village of Hoosick Falls websites.
One way we can come together and support our community in this time of crisis is by donating blood in honor of all of those in Hoosick Falls who have been personally affected, especially those with physical afflictions.
Call 1-800-RED-CROSS or go to redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or drop in the Church from 1 to 6 pm. Hoosick Has Heart has again set a goal of collecting 500 units of blood in 2016.
The organization thanks donors and the Hoosick Falls Baptist Church for helping to give the gift of life. Each unit received can save up to 3 lives. For more information about Town of Hoosick blood drives, contact Gail Smith, Hoosick Has Heart, at 390-4986.[/private]
