Soil sampling and testing on the Little League and softball fields on Waterworks Road began on Monday, February 15. The results are due back in a few weeks, sometime in March.

Ted Senecal, president of The Town of Hoosick Youth Baseball and Softball Organization (THYBS) said that no matter what the results, they will be playing this season at the Town Athletic Fields; the girls’ softball will play at the HFCS fields if it becomes necessary to use more fields.

Senecal explained that the Town Athletic Fields need to be revamped so that they are the right size for Little League rules and if they wait for results to come back and the fields are not okay to play on, then there wouldn’t be enough time to make the necessary adjustments at the Town’s fields (the girls softball fields at the school are already the right size). Therefore, THYBS has decided to just go ahead with the alternate plan. “We are moving forward with the season,” he said, “just in a different location.”

Opening Day is set for Saturday, April 30. Batter up![/private]
