Rodney Richard Yerdon

Petersburgh – Rodney Richard Yerdon, 71, formerly of Petersburgh, died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 4, 2016. Born in Troy, he was son of Ida (Wescott) Zablocky of Berlin and the late Howard C. Yerdon.  Ricky resided in Petersburgh for many years before he moved to Florida.  For the past 15 years he resided in Alabama.

[private]While in this area, Ricky worked as a janitor at Williams College for many years and also was employed by the Pownal Tannery, John Hannell’s Greenhouse in Watervliet and Charlie Young’s Greenhouse in Latham.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Laura Yerdon; his sons, Rodney (Ivy) Yerdon, Jr. of Petersburgh and Ronald (Diane) Yerdon of Cherry Plain; step-children Earl Williams and Ann Marie Williams, both of Tennessee; his sister, Joan Gardner of Hoosick Falls; his brothers Arley Yerdon of Tennessee, Robert (Hazel) Yerdon of Grafton, John Yerdon of Pownal, VT and James (Eleanor) Yerdon of Petersburgh and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Yerdon.

A service was held for Ricky on Thursday, February 11 at 2 pm at the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh. Relatives and friends were  invited to visit with Ricky’s family on Thursday from 12 pm until the time of the service.

Interment followed in Pleasant Valley-Meadowlawn Cemetery, Petersburgh.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ricky’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, New York, 12210.
