Doris L. Auernig

Hoosick Falls – Doris L. Auernig, 90, passed away on Monday March 14 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. She resided at the Wood Park Apartments and was the wife of the late Frank Joseph Auernig.

[private]Ob-AuernigWDoris was born on April 12, 1925, in Hoosick Falls daughter of Howard and Bertha (Quackenbush) Brownell. She attended schools in Hoosick Falls. In her earlier years Doris worked at Luries Department Store and Harrison Vending in Hoosick Falls. Doris a member of the First Baptist Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post # 40 both in Hoosick Falls, the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Valley Falls, a Foster Grandparent Program at H.F.C.S. Elementary school. She a former member of the Maple Grove Cemetery Board and Rensselaer County Cooperative Extension.

Survivors include her daughters Donna Grant (Thomas) of Babcock Lake and Jo Ann Powers (William) of Pittstown, NY, grandchildren Lisa Sipperly (Wayne), Julie Parkes (John), Harry Grant (Michelle), Steven Grant (Shelly), William Powers and Lewis Powers, also 10 great-grandchildren and a great great-grandchild. She is predeceased by two sisters Emma Baker and Ruth O’Dell and a brother Wilson Brownell.

Funeral services will be Saturday March 19, at 11 am from the First Baptist Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. A Celebration of Doris life will follow the burial at the Polish Hall on Mechanic Street in Hoosick Falls.

Relatives and friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls on Friday March 18 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to either the First Baptist Church or the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the funeral home.[/private]
