March 31, 2016 By eastwickpress

The Hoosick Falls Central School PTA recently received a $1,300 grant through Stewarts’ Holiday Match program, an organization that recognizes and supports children’s programs throughout the communities it serves. [private]Hoosick Falls Central School’s PTA is donating the grant to support the Hoosick Falls Elementary School Music Department as it launches a new curriculum for Kindergarden through 5th grade students.
The new curriculum uses imitation, exploration, improvisation, and visualization; repertoire rich in folk literature, nursery rhymes and traditional singing games to help students understand five conceptual areas of music; rhythm, melody, harmony, form, and timbre. The grant awarded the PTA will be used to purchase rhythm instruments such as maracas, tambourines, Lummi sticks, and Bass Metallophones.
The HFCS PTA is pleased to support the HFCS Elementary Music Department in requesting this grant on the school’s behalf.[/private]
