Katherine M. White

Averill Park-Katherine M. White, 66, of Route 43 passed away on Sunday March 13, 2016 at the Samaritan Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Born in Troy and a lifelong resident of Averill Park, Kate was the daughter of the late Herman and Margot Matysiok Prugel and wife of Robert O. White. [private]Katherine WhiteWKate was a 1967 graduate of the Averill Park High School. For 36 years with her husband she ran White Evergreen in Averill Park, a seasonal greens business started by her grandparents. The business was sold in 2014. For the past 21 years Kate had worked for Troy Tax Service and had more recently run KTL Tax Prep. in Troy and Averill Park with her daughter. Kate was still doing a greens business, KT Wreath Xmas Stand on Route 43 in North Greenbush. Kate had worked for the NYS Dept. of Corrections during the 1970s.

Kate enjoyed camping, loved Misquamicut Beach in Rhode Island and was a longtime member of the Black River Raiders Snowmobile Club. Kate’s family will now miss the great German cooking that was passed down by her mother and how she embraced and cared for her family, friends and neighbors.

Kate had missed her best friend Bobbi Ernest who left this world in 2012.

Survivors in addition to her husband of 48 years include her daughter Heidi (Thomas) Fleming of Averill Park, her son William White of Maryland, twin brother Otto Thomas (Janet) Prugel of Harelton, TX, her sister Magrit E. Lydecker of Watervliet, her grandchildren Thomas P. Fleming III, Damian and Siera Fleming, her great granddaughter Ellie Meka-Fleming her step children Laurie Varallo, Robert O. White II and Denise Luke and their families along with several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Friday March 18 at 10 am at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake in Averill Park.

Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral chapel on Thursday 4-7 pm. Interment will be at East Nassau Rural Cemetery.

If desired, donations in memory of Katherine M. White may be made to the Hoags Corners Ambulance PO Box 90 East Nassau, NY 12062.
