Mary Lou Walters is writing a book “Remembrances of the Old Families of Petersburgh” and is looking for families who she has not yet included. This book will be in honor of the 225th anniversary of Petersburgh’s founding and will be sold at cost.

[private]The following family representatives have been or are being inteviewed: Donald Babcock, Charles Bentley (CB), Everett Brock, Audrey Moon Bartus, Pamela Neaton Eggsware, Minnie Stewart Jones, Lynda Manchester Kroboth, Roger LeMere, David Green, David Hewitt, Rolland Hewitt, Alice Jones Hodges, Mason Hubbard, Autumn and Georgia Main, William J. Nugent,Jean O’Dell, George Phillips, Linda Scrivens Sharper, Raymond and Joyce Mason Snyder, William C Snyder, Glenn Smith, Mildred Church Southgate, Alice Moon Trexler, Wanda Webster, Jane Stevens Wesley, Vera Church Yerke.

Mary Lou does not want to leave a family behind so if your family has had at least four grown generations in Petersburgh and you want to be included in the book please contact her at 658-0136 or marylouwalters@taconic.net right away.

She would also like funny or interesting stories of old Petersburgh to use as fillers, so if you know a story please contact her. For Instance, Beverly Rose Kantrowitz moved here as a child because of her parents fear of Albany being bombed during WWII. She told the Petersburgh children’s war efforts such as picking milk weed pods for parachute fillers.[/private]
