THIS JUST IN!! Hoosick Falls Water Gets The Thumbs Up From NYSDOH

March 31, 2016 By eastwickpress

Hoosick Falls Mayor David Borge on
New York State Department of Health’s
Determination that Hoosick Falls Municipal Water
is Safe for Drinking and Cooking
“We’ve been waiting for this day for a long time. Tonight, for the first
time in months, residents can use the water from their household taps
without fear.

[private]”The state Department of Health conducted dozens of tests
at the water treatment plant and throughout the municipal distribution
system. The tests prove the ability of the temporary carbon filtration
system to remove PFOA from the water. For those who prefer to
continue using bottled water, it will continue to be available at Tops
Market as long as the temporary system is being used.

“The Village Board greatly appreciates the efforts of Water
Superintendent Jim Hurlburt and his team at the water treatment plant.
They’ve worked tirelessly — often round-the-clock and on weekends —
to get the filtration system installed and working effectively. They
deserve our high praise and our thanks for their dedication.
“The Village Board’s work does not end with today’s announcement. To
the contrary, we will continue to work with state and federal elected
officials, state agencies and local residents to rigorously pursue a
cleanup of PFOA in our community. Our attention on this matter will
continue until the source or sources of PFOA are identified and
thoroughly addressed.”[/private]
