The day was off to a perfect start before the first competitor arrived at the Wood Park. It was a spectacular spring day for the Lace Up and Race For the Cure. Competitors began arriving an hour before start time and didn’t stop until there were 262 of them, a new race record that surpassed the hopes of the organizers.

The race took off from Wood Park, a change from last year due to the number of children in the race. Organizers requested that starting place so young competitors would not have to walk up HIgh Street/Route 22 to get to the usual starting area at the corner of Munsell and High Street.
All types of people enjoyed the race. There were children, parents with young children in carriages, serious runners and many walkers. It really didn’t matter how you approached the race, it was fun for all.
David Everard was the first male finisher with a time of 17:36, Brittany Pine finished first for the women with a 22:06.[/private]
The event raised approximately $5,000.
