Calling All Veterans!

April 21, 2016 By eastwickpress

The Veterans of Stephentown are hosting an Open House on Wednesday, May 4 at 6 pm at the Fire Hall on Grange Hall Road.

We invite our fellow veterans to come and see what our organization is doing. If you are already a member and haven’t been to a meeting lately – come on back!

[private]Aside from the social aspect of getting together with fellow veterans at the Annual Picnic, the Christmas party, and the Valley Cats ball game in summer, the Stephentown Veterans built and continue to maintain the Veterans Memorial Park on Route 43 in the center of town. We provide support to our own members and we also help support community groups such as the Historical Society, the Boy Scouts, Hospice, local churches, and others. We do this through donations of money or use of our equipment and park.

We honor our Veterans every November with a ceremony at the Park along with a luncheon. We provide a place for the community Christmas Tree lighting, provide grave markers and distribute flags to the cemeteries as well as provide the flags that fly on the poles all summer down the main street of Stephentown.

We need an active, vibrant group to maintain the Park and to carry our other activities into the future. We are looking for new members and for existing members to take active roles. All military veterans are eligible to join. We meet at the Fire Hall the first Wednesday of each month at 7 pm. Membership is $10 and there is no annual fee. So please join us at our Open House on May 4![/private]
