“I Heart Hoosick” Earth Day Celebration At Brown’s Brewing Co. Walloomsac Brewery And Taproom

April 21, 2016 By eastwickpress

Brown’s Brewing Company’s Walloomsac Taproom invites the area community to celebrate Earth Day at the taproom on Friday, April 22 beginning at 5 pm.  This event is the kick off for a season of “I Heart Hoosick” community-wide programs. In addition to celebrating Earth Day, the gathering at Brown’s will recognize and thank the various entities that were instrumental during the recent water crisis.  As area residents and brewery owners for over 20 years, Garry and Kelly Brown realize the importance of good quality water in the region.

“We are grateful that our neighbors in the village of Hoosick Falls now have clean drinking water. There are so many people to thank including the Department of Health and Department of Environmental Conservation as well as all the volunteers who brought bottled water to those in need. It is truly a time for renewal and celebration and no day is more appropriate than Earth Day to gather,” said the Browns.

During the Earth Day celebration at Brown’s, enjoy the emerging landscape of spring and the breathtaking view of the Walloomsac River and waterfall from the patio or inside the historic brick structure built in 1854.  Flood Road’s fast paced bluegrass, rock, folk, and country blues from 7 to 9 pm guarantees to get your feet stomping.

As a special feature of the evening, the $10 admission includes a pint of Brown’s beer, a brewery tour, and a sampling of offerings from the full kitchen scheduled to open in early summer.  A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Rensselaer Land Trust, an organization that Brown’s Brewing has supported for more than a decade.   The RLT is committed to conserving the open spaces, watersheds, and natural habitats of Rensselaer County for the benefit of communities and future generations.  Everyone will receive a commemorative packet of sunflowers seeds packaged locally in Cambridge, NY.

Hoosick Falls Mayor David Borge said, “This year Earth Day has a special significance for those of us who call the greater Hoosick community home. As we emerge from a very difficult time for all and reflect on the beauty and bounty of Mother Nature, let us celebrate the simplicity of clean water and thank those who have helped us in our time of need.”

Hoosick Town Supervisor Mark Surdam notes “Earth Day reminds us to consider our environment and how fragile it can be; especially, when it comes to our drinking water. The Hoosick area has learned first hand just how important it is to care for our environment not only for ourselves, but for our children and grandchildren. Let’s be thankful for the NYS employees working countless hours on our behalf through this environmental challenge. May we celebrate knowing that we are strong, we are healing, we will overcome, and that this is a wonderful area to call home.” [/private]
