The Ethel Simmons Memorial Award

High school seniors who are residents of Grafton, attending public, private school or home schooled, and graduating this year, are invited to apply for The Ethel Simmons Memorial Award. [private]The Grafton Community Library and the Grafton Historical Society present the $400 award annually in memory of Mrs. Simmons.  She was a teacher, librarian, town historian and 4-H leader with a great love of her community and its history. Applicants submit either an essay on some aspect of Grafton’s history or a transcript of a personal interview with at least three people who can relay aspects of their personal history of life in Grafton.

The application with complete requirements is available at the Grafton Community Library, Grafton Town Hall, the guidance offices of Berlin, Brittonkill, Catholic Central High, Hoosick Falls and Averill Park High, online at www.graftoncommunitylibrary.org, or by e-mail at GHS12082@aol.com.  Reference materials are available at the Grafton Community Library during regular library hours and from the Grafton Historical Society by appointment – mail GHS12082@aol.com. A member of the Historical Society will be available at the Town Hall to answer questions on April 23 from 10 to 1. The deadline to submit entries is 1 pm on May 21, 2016.[/private]
