9th Annual Coach Baker Fund Weekend

May 19, 2016 By eastwickpress

Committee Announces 2016 Auction, Dinner,
Golf and Basketball Tournament Dates
The committee for the Coach Baker Fund has announced that its ninth annual auction, Golf Scramble and basketball tournament will be June 17 and 18 at the historic Hoosick Falls Country Club in Hoosick Falls.[private]The annual weekend of organized events includes a golf tournament, a basketball tournament, an auction and a dinner.  The weekend was established in memory of the late coach Ken Baker of Hoosick Falls and Cambridge who passed away in 2008.  For almost a decade now a committee of friends and family have come together to organize a packed weekend in order to raise funds.  These funds go towards scholarships of deserving students from both the Cambridge and Hoosick Falls school districts, as well as programs in both communities to focus on health, civic responsibility and leadership.  Last year the committee gave out two $2,000 scholarships to deserving students in both school districts.
Starting on Friday night of the weekend, family, friends, past students, athletes, scholarship recipients and both communities come together with a live auction and dinner starting at 6 pm at the Hoosick Falls Country Club.  Community members are invited and can purchase tickets at the door.  The 2016 scholarship applicants will be announced before the live silent auction, which starts at 8 pm.  As with every year, the silent auction dinner is entertained by live auctioneer Ron Seifert and will have items large and small to bid on to raise funds.
The Weekend continues on Saturday with 3-on-3-basketball tournament at the Cambridge Central School. To sign up for the basketball tournament please contact Andy Nolan or by going to the website.  The two tee times for the Golf tournament are 8 am and 1 pm at the Hoosick Falls Country Club. To create a team and enter the golf tournament please contact Mike Baratto at mpb416@gmail.com.
Additional information on the weekend’s events is available at coachbakerfund.org/coach-baker-fund-weekend/
The Coach Baker Fund celebrates the late Coach Ken Baker and his influence in the communities that he was a part of.  Guided by integrity, driven by passion, and committed to excellence, he brought out the very best in the hundreds of young men and women that he mentored during his nearly 40 years as a teacher and coach.
