American Cancer Society To Honor Officer Nick Colaneri

May 19, 2016 By eastwickpress

2016 Hero of Hope Award Given At First Ever Red, White & Blue Party

Nick Colaneri of the Troy Police Department for his courageous battle with cancer, his commitment to keeping our community safe and to the American Cancer Society, at its first ever Red, White & Blue Party on June 24 at Saratoga National Golf Course.[private]Officer Colaneri became a volunteer and advocate of the American Cancer Society after he was diagnosed with a rare, advanced cancer at the age of 25. Through his own journey, Officer Colaneri has touched the lives of so many in the Capital Region and beyond – providing hope and inspiration to those also facing a diagnosis. He has volunteered his time at various fundraisers to help raise awareness and funds and will also be participating in Relay For Life with the American Cancer Society this year to continue this fight.
“When we decided to give out the Hero of Hope award this year, there was no question that Nick was the perfect candidate to receive it,” said Lizzie Hunter, Development Manager, Distinguished Events, at the American Cancer Society. “This award is a testament to his dedication and commitment to not only helping people in our community through his day to day work, but also his ability to inspire those impacted by cancer.”
In addition to raising awareness of the role the American Cancer Society plays in advocacy, support services and education, this event will bring together more than 300 local leaders, businesses, young professionals, and philanthropists from the Capital Region in support of local programs and research. Funds raised will support the mission of the American Cancer Society, including the American Cancer Society HopeClub, located in Latham, NY. At HopeClub, patients and families can find support programs, information sessions, and networking opportunities as they face a cancer journey.
Guests of the Red, White & Blue Party will enjoy a unique all American themed evening with a gourmet barbeque, live music by Body and Soul, silent auction, and a chance to engage with others in the lifesaving mission of the American Cancer Society.
There are three levels of event tickets including Young Professional Ticket for $100, General Tickets for $150 or Honorary Committee for $250. The American Cancer Society is seeking additional corporate sponsors for the event. Sponsorship opportunities include recognition for businesses and individuals in the community. All funds raised benefit the American Cancer Society to help those in need.
