Hoosick Falls Memorial Day Festivities This Weekend

Memorial day rites in the village of Hoosick Falls will begin with the raising of the American flag by Edward “Ike” Powers, Commander of the American Legion on Monday, May 30 at the Maple Grove Cemetery, followed by the flag raising at the St. Mary’s Cemetery.[private]At 8 am, the Flag will be raised at Wood Memorial Park with a salute by the American Legion and Auxiliary. At 8:15, the American Legion accompanied by the Hoosick Falls High School Band will march from Wood Park to the Shop Bridge to honor the men of the Navy who lost their lives at sea. The group will then march to the Civil War Monument at the junction of Classic and High Streets to honor the dead of the Civil War at 8:40 am.
At 9:15 am the American Legion and local veterans will assemble at the World War 1 Memorial in Wood Park. Wreaths will be placed at the World War One, World War Two, Korea and Vietnam Monuments. The chaplain of the American Legion will then offer a prayer.
A parade consisting of two divisions will assemble at 9:15 am, and will step off at 10 am.

Formation of the parade will start at 9:15 am and Inspection at 9:45. The parade will step off at 10 am sharp.
First Division will include: Police Car, Legion Colors, Grand Marshall..US Navy retired Steve Marcoux (in Tim Whitman Car), The Legion Auxiliary (walk and ride), Veterans (walk and ride), Bob Becker Truck with WW2 Veteran, Hoosick Falls Central School Band, Town, County and Village Officials, Hoosick Area Church Association
St. Mary’s Academy (Marchers and Float), Hoosick Falls Fire Dept., Antique Cars, Taconic Pipe Band, Miss Oliva British School of Ballet, First Baptist Church, Clover Kids and Critters 4th, Military Steve Shaw Truck/Pat Kelly and Pat Bakaitis, North Hoosick Fire Dept, Hill Hollow Band, and Rensselaer County Dairy Princess Committee
The Second Division will include: Rensselaer County Sheriff, Trustco Bank, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Brownies, Hoosick Fire Dept., 4H Independent Club, Hoosick Falls Community Band, Hoosac School, West Hoosick Fire Dept., O’Malley Float, White Creek Fire Dept., JC Tractor, Hoosick Youth Football, The Fiesta Band, Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad Youth Corp Float, Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad Ambulances.
