What’s Happening At Stephentown Memorial Library?

Web School at SML – Computer Classes – Mondays at 5:30 pm.  RSVP to reserve a space – 518-733-5750. Taught by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County.[private]May 9: Internet Basics – Looking to get online, but not sure where to start? Come to this Internet Basics class for the tips, tricks, and tools you need to get online and get the most out of an Internet connection.
May 23: Finding Facts Online – Need to brush up on some trivia, or swiftly win an argument? Get some tips for quickly finding facts and figures using the Internet. Featuring: Wikipedia, Google, and the Internet Movie Database.
Monthly Lego Club – Friday, May 6 at 6 pm.  Do you have a Lego enthusiast who could spend hours and hours every day engrossed with creative building? The Lego Club meets on a Friday night each month for an hour of building fun. There is no sign-up or charge.  This month we will try a game of Lego Bingo and a Lego speed building round.  Join the fun!
Sunday Classics Film Series – Sunday, May 15 at 4 pm.  If you often yearn for the films of yesteryear and find little to enjoy in today’s movie theaters, then come join this relaxed group as we watch the classic films from the Golden Age of Hollywood. This film series meets on the third Sunday of each month and is appropriate for young adults and older. Your suggestions for upcoming films are always welcome. This month we will show Gaslight (1944) starring Ingrid Bergman, Charles Boyer and Joseph Cotten. Free refreshments will be served.
3rd Annual Plant Exchange/Giveaway – Saturday, 5/21, 10 am to 2 pm.  Did you start a few too many veggie or flower seeds? Have divisions of perennials you want a home for? Have a few extra cuttings you don’t want to compost? Bring them to the side porch of the Library, preferably before 10 am on Saturday 5/21 and share them with your neighbors. Please label what you bring!
Are you looking to add a tomato, herb or flower to your garden? Stop by and help yourself. It’s self-serve, although a gardener may be around to encourage and advise.
Although we call this a swap, You Don’t Need To Bring A Plant To Take A Plant! And don’t forget to bring your extra seeds in to the Seed Exchange. You can drop them off at the desk.

Attention Stephentown Graduating Students!
The Stephentown Memorial Library is offering one $500 scholarship to a graduating senior who will enter a two- or four-year college in the Fall.  Applicants for the Stephentown Memorial Library Scholarship must be a resident of Stephentown, New York.  Applications are available at the Library and at the Guidance Offices of local public and private schools attended by Stephentown students.
The scholarship fund results from gifts and bequests made to the Library specifically for scholarship purposes.  Application deadline is May 21, 2016.
