June 9, 2016 By eastwickpress

The Bennington Battlefield State Historic Site will host two “History on the Hill” sessions on Saturday, June 18 at 10 am and 3 pm as part of New York State’s “Path Through History weekend.” Musicians, speakers, and reenactors will be on hand to share the history of the battle.

[private]The program will feature musicians playing a selection of songs that were enjoyed throughout the Revolutionary era and beyond. The event will also feature a small encampment, reenactor demonstration and a series of brief talks describing the events of the battle and other related topics. Afterwards, visitors may chat with presenters and take in their displays, enjoy light refreshments or hike on the site’s trails.

The Bennington Battlefield State Historic Site is off Route 67 in Walloomsac, in the Town of Hoosick.

To help support the event, there is a suggested donation of $5 for individuals and $10 for families, cash or check only.  Space is limited, so please RSVP to David Pitlyk, historic site assistant, david.pitlyk@parks.ny.gov, (518)-860-9094.

At the conclusion of the battlefield program, visitors are encouraged to go to the nearby Brown’s Brewing Co.’s Walloomsac Taproom and Brewery for a “Then and Now Bite and Beer.”  Attendees can sample 18th and 20th century food and beer and take a tour of the brewery, all for only $10. Visitors may also chat about the history of the site of the brewery with members of the Hoosick Township Historical Society.[/private]
