Big Turnout For Hoosick Falls Memorial Day Parade

June 2, 2016 By eastwickpress

It Was A Gorgeous, Unexpectedly Sunny Day, Perfect For A Parade!

After the traditional rites and festivities  that included several flag raisings and laying of wreaths, the parade began. Led by the Legion Colors and Grand Marshall Steve Marcoux, participants marched the traditional route starting north on Main Street and ending back at Wood Park.

Garry’s grandfather, Colonel Charles Brown, served in the South Pacific for the duration of the war. Garry’s grandmother kept two stars in the window of their house on Albany Street in Schenectady. Between the music, the waving flags, the cheering crowds that lined the streets, the excitement, pride, and awe on faces both young and old, the 2016 Memorial Day Parade paid great patriotic tribute to those who gave their lives in our nation’s service.
