Farm Photography for Kids

The Agricultural Stewardship Association (ASA) is hosting a Farm Photography for Kids program on Saturday, June 18 from 10 am to noon at Northern Spy Farm, a dairy goat and cheese operation in Sandgate, VT. The farm produces hard cave-aged cheese called Goat Song Tomme and sells American Dairy Goat Association registered kids. [private]
The Farm Photography program gives youngsters ages 8 and up a chance to visit regional farms, explore what they do there, and learn from professionals how to take great photos. Photographer Dona Ann McAdams will teach the fundamentals of photographic composition and lighting, and begin to investigate photographic techniques.
Over the course of the spring and early summer, participants visit four diverse farms to find out what makes them so special and worth protecting. After all the trips, photos from each participant will be included in a special exhibition in ASA’s booth at the Washington County and Schaghticoke Fairs.
Online registration is at www.agstewardship.org, or contact the ASA office at 518-692-7285. Kids are encouraged to sign up for one or more trips. Registration is $10 per child per session. Parents are welcome to attend for free but their work will not be included in the show.
Additional program dates include R’Eisen Shine Farm, chickens, pigs, rabbits, poultry and more on Saturday, June 25 and the Washington County Fair on August 25.

The Agricultural Stewardship Association was founded in 1990 by farmers to protect agricultural land and ensure a future for farming in our region.
