It was Dairy Princess Night at Hoosick Grange on June 8. David Schmidt introduced the new Rensselaer County Dairy Princess, Natalie Schudt and her father Matt Schudt, to the Grange. [private]Natalie thanked the Grange for inviting her. She told us she was a Junior at Hoosac Valley High School and will be a senior next year. She doesn’t live on a farm but lives next to one where she has a cow leased to her. She shows this cow at the Schaghticoke Fair. She loves showing cows. She has been a 4-H member for five years. She told us this was her first official speaking engagement. She was asked if she had a favorite cow. She said she did and her name was Carmella . She told us she would like to go to Cobleskill or Morrisville to college after high school. She would also like to go to The World Dairy Expo in Wisconsin. She writes for the Express and the Eagle Newspapers and is very active in the 4-H. The Grangers asked her many questions. She had crackers and cheese and milk which she served to us. Natalie had school the next day so we thanked her and her father for bringing her and wished her the best in the future.
There was a short business meeting and delicious refreshments provided by Burta Burr. The next meeting is June 22, and Natalie Ryan is program chairperson and Norma Brenenstuhl is in charge of refreshments.[/private]
