Pearl Crandall Babcock Koch

June 2, 2016 By eastwickpress

Petersburgh – Pearl Crandall Babcock Koch, 90, went home to her rewards with Jesus on May 24, 2016. She was born March 27, 1926 to Benjamin and Carrie Hoffay Crandall and is predeceased by her siblings, Esther (Nichols) Thomas, Cornelius, Benjamin, Carrie (Roberts), her husband of fifty years Lewis Earl Babcock and Albert Koch, her beloved husband of five years. [private]Ob-KochShe is also predeceased by her son, Lewis Aaron, and her grandsons Michael Patrick Brock, (who she raised) and Todd (Jodi) Babcock. She left behind her daughter, Beverly Brock of Pittsfield, MA, son, Frank (Joan) Babcock, daughter, Mary Lou (Walter) Walters of Petersburgh and beloved stepdaughter Kate (Dennis) Bagley, stepsons Chuck and Chris Koch along with her grandchildren: Kathryn Brock, Laurie DiDomenicantonio, Shawn and Clayton Babcock, John and Frank Stevens and Kristy Lemiska as well as twenty-four great-grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.

Pearl was a wonderful Christian woman who lived a life of Christian Love and Peace in the midst of tragedy. She always said hardships just bring you closer to God. As a member of Mountain Chapel Church, Pearl was a leader, mentor and grandmother for many. She will be deeply missed. She worked hard all her life and in her retirement did not rest. She was an active member of the seniors and the ‘taxi’ driver for many. She ran the Veterans’ Hall Cafe for years and kept the guys supplied with goodies. Each year she would knit hundreds of sets of mittens and hats for the Capitol City Rescue Mission. She faithfully visited the sick and for many was their only lifeline home. Pearl requested just a simple short prayer at her grave for her services. This was held at her lawn on Saturday May 28 at 11 am. Funeral arrangements by Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick St., Troy, NY 12180. (518) 272-3930.[/private]
