The Petersburgh Public Library invites everyone to “The Last Dragon,” a puppet performance presented by The Puppet People on Monday, June 27 at 7 pm at the PVMCC. Join The Puppet People as they retell the fairy tale “The Last Dragon” by E. Nesbitt. Are all princesses helpless? Are all knights brave and strong? Are all dragons evil? Come and find out!!![private]Summer Reading Program Beginning
Everyone is invited to sign up for the summer reading program at the library. All children and youth through grade 12 who sign up will pick out a book that they can keep and enjoy reading over the summer. You can also sign up online through our website, www.petersburghpubliclibrary.org, and then stop by the library to pick up your free book. There will be daily activities at the library between 3 and 5 pm Monday through Friday from June 27 to August 26. Stop by for legos on Monday, coloring on Tuesday, food crafts on Wednesday, fun crafts on Thursday and games on Friday.
Preschool story hour will be held Tuesday afternoons at 3:30 pm for the summer, beginning June 28. All preschoolers with parents or care providers are welcome at story hour. Join us at the library for stories, activities, crafts, and a snack.
Everyone is invited to Sing And Dance, Move And Groove on Wednesday, July 6 at 10:30 am when Deb Cavanaugh, singer and songwriter, will present a fun musical program. There will be percussion instruments for you to play along and plenty of chances to move your body. Learn some traditional American songs, listen to traditional American instruments such as the mountain dulcimer and the limberjack and experience a “crankie,” an old storytelling art form set to music. Held at the PVMCC.
Fishing Program
Join us on Friday, July 8 at 10:30 am when The Dyken Pond Environmental Center will present a program called Fishing! Children will learn fascinating fish facts, learn how to identify common fish species found in lakes and streams, make fish prints to take home and practice casting with a fishing pole. We will also examine macro invertebrates (tiny creatures) to find out what fish eat. Will be held at the Petersburgh Town Park.[/private]
