Stephentown Historical Society Summer Potluck Picnic On July 11

June 30, 2016 By eastwickpress

The summer potluck picnic of the Stephentown Historical Society will be Monday, July 11, at 6 pm. at the Stephentown Firehall Pavilion at 35 Grange Hall Road in Stephentown. [private]The Society is providing hamburgers, hotdogs, rolls and condiments, as well as the usual table service and beverages.  All that is needed to complete the menu is for folks to bring appetizers or side dishes.  The event is free and open to the public.  For directions, telephone (518) 733-0010.
The entertainment for the evening honors the 225th anniversary of the birth of George Holcomb, Stephentown’s journal-writing farmer during the first half of the 19th century.  Brush up on your knowledge of 19th century farm life.  Some folks might have to “chop wood to the door,” or learn how to harness a horse to a wagon.[/private]
