Two June Dyken Pond Events Full Strawberry Moon Paddle and Hike

June 9, 2016 By eastwickpress

Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center is offering two options for the Full Strawberry Moon on June 20 from 7 to 9 pm for the first day of summer.  Ian Keefe will lead a guided kayak paddle, while Leonard Tremblay will lead a hike at the same time. The guided paddle is limited to 12 boats so pre-registration is required and can be done by contacting the Center at dykenpond@gmail.com or 518-658-2055. Kayaks can be rented for $10, or you can bring your own.  Bring a picnic dinner beforehand if you’d like. Both tours are free.

[private]Music Under the Trees with the Hill Hollow Band

Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center is holding a Music Under the Trees event featuring the Hill Hollow Band on Friday, June 24 from 6 to 9 pm. One of the emerging bright lights in the Capital Region’s roots music scene, the Hill Hollow Band performs with rambling energy that must be seen to be appreciated.  Armed with a multitude of instruments, eclectic arrangements, and musical influences that span a century, this band has a well-earned reputation as local live performance favorites. Get ready to enjoy richly textured arrangements including accordion, mandolin, fiddle, guitars, pedal steel, bass and full harmony vocals. This free concert will be held outdoors, so bring a lawn chair. Light snacks available for sale. The event is sponsored by the Friends of Dyken Pond Center and donations are always welcome.

A complete list of programs can be found at: www.dykenpond.org. For more information,  contact the Center at dykenpond@gmail.com or 518-658-2055.

Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center is a Rensselaer County Park open daily during daylight hours for hiking, fishing and non-motor boating. Canoes and kayaks are available for rent each day from 9 am until 3 pm. Call for more information and a complete schedule of our summer events.[/private]
