By Doug La Rocque An unsigned and undated long form SEQR report, is one of the reasons the Grafton Planning Board had to table the proposal to construct the facility at 40 Dunham Rd. Jane Mc Dermott first brought the site plan review before the Board in May, which held a public hearing on the issue last month. [private]A letter from Fred Howard of the Rensselaer County Department of Health says the plans are generally satisfactory and will be approved once a few minor changes are made. These changes deal with the proposal’s Storm Water Management system. A new public water supply will also be required for the facility. This requires drilling and testing of a new well, which is outlined on the project’s site plan. The well already on site can only be used for the current structure on the property.
Planning Board Chairman Tom Withcuskey is hopeful McDermott can have these issues addressed in time for the August meeting. For that matter, so is McDermott. She tells The Eastwick Press she had hoped to open the facility, which is called Greywacke Meadows, in May of 2017. She is concerned the delays in approval will eat into this year’s construction season, and perhaps push back her planned opening.
Chairman Withcuskey also updated the Board on road improvements made at the Blueberry Ridge sub-division off Old Road in the Town. The sub-division was first approved by the Board ten years ago, but the road was never brought to specifications. Withcuskey said this work has been completed and has been approved by Highway Superintendent Herb Hasbrouck. It is believed that the owners, the estate of the late Town Supervisor Ray Darling, will now ask the Town Board to consider having Grafton take over the roadway.
