August 4, 2016 By eastwickpress

by Alex Brooks The Berlin CSD Organizational Meeting on July 1 began with the swearing in of Rachel Finney and Jeff Paine, who were re-elected, and Sherry Bowman-Kluck, who was newly elected to the Board. [private]The Board elected Frank Zwack as President unanimously, and Jeffrey Paine was elected Vice President. Jeffrey Paine described for the Board several e-maintenance software packages that he had been researching. These allow the Superintendent of Building and Grounds to keep track of both upcoming and completed tasks about maintenance and renovation of the school buildings. It can also be used for bus maintenance. Buildings Superintendent Cyril Grant commented that there will be a significant learning curve for his staff when they begin adopting this system, as he estimated that only 1/3 of his staff are comfortable with computers. The Board abolished the position of High School Principal and created the position of Middle School/High School Principal and appointed Catherine Allain to that position. The position of middle school principal was abolished at the June meeting, and at this meeting Jason Breh, who held that job, was laid off, and placed on a preferred list for any similar position at the District that may be vacant or newly-created. The Board appointed Sheila Hewitt as District Treasurer – Tammy Whitman as School Tax Collector, Business Manager Karen Capozzi as Purchasing Agent, Marvin & Co. as External Auditor Pioneer Commercial Bank of Troy, New York, as official depository for funds of the school district and the Record Newspaper and/or the Times Union and/or the Berkshire Eagle and/or The Eastwick Press as the newspaper(s) to be used for legal advertising of the school district, and approved a long list of routine annual appointments.[/private]
