On Monday, August 8, Hoosick Falls Community Alliance Church, 484 Hill Road, will sponsor a Red Cross Blood Drive from 1 to 6 pm.[private]The need for blood is urgent, so if you are eligible, please consider making an appointment by calling Call 1-800-RED-CROSS or going to redcrossblood.org. Many agencies have conferred regarding donating blood given the PFOA situation. The following statement has been issued by Nathan Graber, MD, MPH, Director, Center for Environmental Health, New York State Department of Health: “Blood donations save lives. The New York State Department of Health recommends that people continue to donate blood if they meet the requirements for donating.” Please help us pay it forward. Donate in honor of family members or friends with medical issues, those who are struggling from the effects of the water crisis, or just because there is a dire need. Every unit donated can save up to 3 lives! Walk-ins are welcome, but there are many appointments already booked at the beginning and end of the drive, so the best time to stop in will be between 2 and 3:30 pm if possible. Given the support we have already received for this blood drive – Thank You! – we have upped our goal to a rather ambitious 80 units. If you have any questions, please contact Gail Smith at 686-9888.[/private]
