Huge Field Hockey Game On September 28

September 22, 2016 By eastwickpress

by Steve Bradley

On Wednesday, September 28, the Warrensburg Burghers come to play the Lady Panther field hockey team. Always a good game, the Panthers battled to a 1-0 double overtime win earlier in the season, and this one looks to be another battle. The Ladies will need all the support the Panther fans can give them.[private]

See the two most prolific scorers in Panther history, Ally Burdick and Liz Ryan, do everything they can to score on the Burghers. Both are going to Division I schools, and are exciting to watch. How often do you get to see two possible future Division l players on the field at HFCS at the same time?

Come over to the game and cheer the Ladies on. Game time is scheduled for 4:45, due to travel time. Bring the entire family, golf cart rides are provided from the parking lot for people who have trouble walking out to the field.

The Ladies travel to Granville on Friday, 9/2 for a 4:15 start. HF 5 – Emma Willard 0 Friday, September 19 at EW.

HF 5-0 / 6-0, EW 0-1 / 2-1. The Ladies grabbed a 3-0 first half lead on the Jesters and cruised to victory. Megan Henry got the first score on the board with an unassisted goal at the 13:30 mark. A minute later Breanna Schnakenberg, with help from Ally Burdick, struck. Ally Burdick hit paydirt again before the half ended. The second half was more of the same. Schnakenberg and Liz Ryan each scored unassisted goals to bring the total to five. Splitting time with Panther goalkeeping duties, Zoe Gress had three saves and Kaitlin Backes had seven. Emma Willard goalie Sasha Bonesteel had 15 saves.

HF 6 – Salem 0 Friday, September 16 at HFCS. HF 5-0, Salem 0-4. The Lady Panthers easily defeated Salem to take their fifth win of the season. Freshman Zoe Gress and senior Kaitlin Backes, the Panther goalies, had an easy day of it, recording zero saves for the game. Salem goalie Jessica Vidale, on the other hand, was kept dancing the entire game, stopping 20 shots. Ally Burdick recorded the first goal just under two minutes into the game, with Megan Henry adding another just over three minutes later. Liz Ryan, with a Meg Henry assist and Sydney Luke, with an assist from Lillian Hickey, brought the halftime score to 4-0. Second half goals by Lillian Hickey, with help from Meg Henry and an unassisted goal by Ally Burdick rounded out the scoring.[/private]
