Hoosick Falls – Kenneth A. Begin, 72, left this earthly life on Sunday, September 25, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.[private] He was the son of Albertine and Raoul Begin, growing up and attending school in Hoosick Falls, NY. He joined the Navy and served four years with the USS WASP. He was a master mechanic for L.B. Smith in Albany, NY for seven years after which he became a self-employed fabricator running his own business for 40 years. He loved the challenge of “building a better mouse trap” and always was engaged in a project whether in his work or at his own home.
He loved best to build and create, to hunt or fish, to cook for his friends at his camp, to ride motorcycle or four wheeler, or just sit down to a good meal with family and friends. Ken was a happy man with a infectious laugh that let you know he was glad to be with you. He loved the simple things of life and was never happier than when his friends drove in the driveway to visit. We who knew him will forever miss him.
Survivors other than his wife Lisa (Baker) include his three sons, Michael Begin (Gillian) of Springfield, MA, Jimmy Begin, North Adams, MA, John Begin of Cohoes, New York, his sister Shirley Shampire (Chris Heffernan), Ballston Lake, NY and Beverly Gorman (Edward) of Hoosick Falls, a brother Paul Begin (Chris) and his three grandchildren Mitchell, Matthew and Molly, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Friday September 30, at 11 am from the West Hoosick Baptist Church. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
