On January 13, 2016, local farmer Lenny Austin was injured in a life-altering farm accident.[private] After months of grueling rehabilitation, Len beat all odds and returned home on August 4 to enjoy life with his family and friends. He’s not back on the tractor yet, but given his perseverance and will to return to the farm, we fully expect that one day he will. Len is, however, enjoying going over to the farm on his motorized scooter and golf cart!
On Sunday, September 18, from 1 to 4 pm at the North Hoosick Fire House, the HFCS Class of 1974 will be sponsoring “Sundaes and Song,” a fundraiser and birthday bash to honor their classmate.
Stewarts will provide all of the fixings for make-your-own sundaes (so what goes around comes around – the Austins produce milk for Stewarts). One for the Road will kick off the event with rock music (Len loves to dance) and Shari Hand and Goober Steller will entertain together for the first time ever to wind things down (this duo should prove to be a lot of fun).
A Chinese Auction will be held and there will be face painting and balloon creations for the kids, plus a couple of other surprises.
Tickets will not be pre-sold, but donations will be taken the day of the event to help offset the Austin’s medical expenses.
Thank you all for your support and prayers for Lenny and his family through these months. He is a walking miracle! Please stop in to the fire house to say hello to Len and to help us celebrate his birthday and return home.
If you have questions or would like to make a donation for the Chinese Auction, please contact Carol Folgert at 205-5003.[/private]
