Last year, many of the marchers pointed out that the stress of combat and service drove many to suicide upon their return home.  They march in memory of their comrades and to raise money for the support programs.

There are two legs of the march, the longest being 24.8 miles, leaving the VFW in Poestenkill and marching to the VFW on South Road in Grafton.  After a rest, they return to Poestenkill.  The smaller version of the march begins in Poestenkill and turns back at the junction of Routes 2 and 351 in Cropseyville.  This is 9.8 miles.  The event includes a free BBQ at the Poestenkill Post for the marchers.  The registration fee for the Grafton leg is $40 with check in at 7:15 am.  Registration for the smaller march is $25 with check in at 12:15 pm.  You may register on line at heroesathomerensco@gmail.com.[private]
