Wood Mower Returns To Hoosick Falls

Kevin O’Malley brought home a piece of Hoosick Falls history this week. O’Malley found a Walter A. Wood sickle bar hay mower located in Sharon Springs, NY and purchased it from the owner.[private] The implement was manufactured in Hoosick Falls making it possibly as old as 150 years, as the first mower was produced in 1856. The mower will be on display at the Walter A. Wood Tractor & Agriculture Show, Saturday, October 1, 8:30 am to 4 pm, in Wood Park, Hoosick Falls. The picture shows O’Malley with the mower in front of Rooster Hill, on the north end of the Shop Bridge. Wood’s manufacturing facilities in Hoosick Falls were built around Rooster Hill.
