The new bridge at Broken Wheel Road in Petersburgh is getting close to finished. There were five men working on October 4, placing rock on the slopes and around the base of the bridge. They expect to be paving the roadway in about a week.
[private]The crew had fallen slightly behind because of a crane that broke and some issues with National Grid. They requested and were granted a 10 day extension but since then have been making up time because the weather has been good and they worked on Saturdays. The target date for completion is October 26. The contractor expects to be finished a little before that, which will give them time to clean up the area and have it looking good by the completion deadline.

The contractor’s only concern is whether Hurricane Matthew might create adverse conditions for working during their final two weeks of construction. Supervisor Webster said he has been pleased with the performance of the contractor. The bridge is expected to be completed on time and under budget, which he said is “not something you hear very often these days.”[/private]
