Candidates In Grafton’s Special Election Appeal For Your Vote

November 3, 2016 By eastwickpress

Voters in Grafton this year are being asked to choose between two well-known individuals to fill the remaining one year of a Town Council term.  The seat became vacant on January 1 when Ingrid Gundrum was sworn in as Town Supervisor.[private]Vying for the position are Allison Kirschner, who was appointed to the vacancy until this special election, and Vicky Burdick, who is currently the Deputy Town Clerk.  Both candidates were asked by The Eastwick Press to submit a brief statement as to why they think voters should choose them.  The statements appear below.  Whoever wins this year’s contest will have to run again in 2017, if they wish to hold the seat for a full four-year term.

Vicky Burdick - In the past 4 weeks I have had the pleasure of meeting a variety of town residents. Their responses varied from “I don’t care” to “Come on in and I will tell you how I feel.” There were the usual concerns over taxes and assessments. But overall people were happy to be part of our “small town” and the freedoms that come with it. As a life-long resident of our town I feel I can help preserve what is great about Grafton while still helping the Town to make positive changes and move forward. I am fairly new to politics and on this journey I have realized I am not in this race for the politics, I am in it for the people. That is why I am asking for your vote for Councilperson on November 8th. Thank You

Allison Kirschner - I am running for the one-year unexpired term on the Grafton Town Board. It is my belief that I have the skills and experience to continue to assist helping our community by working together in a positive manner. I come into this with no political agenda and am here to serve the citizens of the Town of Grafton to the best of my ability. I strive to help keep our town government moving forward with as little impact on the taxpayers as possible. The Board is currently working together on ideas for future revenue resources, including but not limited to waste disposal and recycling, along with the realization that we need to plan for the future regarding the upkeep of town macheriney, equipment and buildings. I offer over 25 years of town government experience in various capacities.. It would be a pleasure to continue to represent the residents of Grafton.
