HACA VITA Seeking Tax Preparation Volunteers

November 3, 2016 By eastwickpress

submitted by Dianne Hosterman

The Hoosick Area Church Association (HACA), for the thirteenth year, is offering free assistance to the public in preparing income tax returns through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance or VITA program. [private]VITA volunteers answer questions, prepare and file returns for low and moderate income taxpayers from February 1 through April 15 at the HACA Ministry Center at 26 John Street in Hoosick Falls.

Volunteers typically are scheduled one or two times through the week either on Thursday evening or during the day on Saturday. Flexible schedules are available to accommodate availability.

No experience is required, however computer experience is helpful. Training is provided both on site and on line through the IRS certification program. Certification is available at both the basic and advanced levels.

Volunteers who do not want to prepare returns are also needed to greet taxpayers, review documents, confirm appointments by phone, or assist with computer hardware/software matters.

For more information contact HACA at hacainc12090@gmail.com.
