Each year the award goes to a senior and this year’s recipient is Katy Gardner. Katy was nominated by the faculty of HFCS, and the announcement came during a lunchtime broadcast of Panther TV (the in-school TV station), which surprised Katy, “I did not even know I was nominated, and it was such a surprise to hear my name when the recipient was announced.”
Katy said, “The components of citizenship, leadership, service, and patriotism are huge responsibilities, and it’s a great honor to see my efforts did not go unnoticed.”
Katy appreciates what the community has given her and wants to see those great things continue to thrive for younger students. Katy enjoys giving back to her community, saying “I pride myself on being a good role model for the younger students through volunteering for camps in the summer.” Katy also mentors and tutors younger students throughout the school year.
Katy is the daughter of Jeff and Myssi Gardner of Hoosick Falls.
Summing up her feelings about winning this award, “There’s nothing like the feeling you get from doing something good for your community. There’s a big gratification in doing something good. Thank you for this award!”[/private]
