Breakfast With Santa Claus In Grafton

December 8, 2016 By eastwickpress

By Doug La Rocque, with apologies to Clement Clarke Moore

Twas about a month before Christmas, and all through the house (the Grafton VFW to be exact), there were lots of people stirring, but no one saw a mouse. The stockings were hung by Santa’s chair with care, with hopes that St. Nicholas would soon be there.[private]And there he was, visiting the Grafton Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary Breakfast once again, listening to all the good little boys and girls wishes for Christmas.  The Eastwick Press interview with Santa was brief, as he’s a busy man this time of year.

He said he’s so busy that Mrs. Claus had to stay back at the North Pole, to help him make his list and check it twice.  And when it comes to Grafton, he said the children have not been naughty, but instead really nice.

Breakfast with Santa is becoming a tradition in Grafton on the last Saturday in November, the fourth year in a row the jolly ole elf has put the town on his list of places to scout out before the big event.

All too soon Santa had to be on his way, but shouted as he rode out of sight, “Don’t worry Grafton, I’ll be back on Christmas Eve Night.”[/private]
