Daniel Merrills

Hoosick Falls – Daniel J Merrills, 59, passed away Saturday November 26, 2016 at his residence, surrounded by his family. Daniel resided on Nixon Street in Hoosick Falls, with his wife of 36 years Stacy (Stowell) Merrills.

[private]Dan was born on March 23, 1957 the son of Ellie (Lockrow) Pilling and the late John A. Merrills. He was educated in the Hoosick Falls Central School, a former member of the Hoosick Falls Elks Lodge and the Eagles Club in Hoosick Falls. Dan was an avid hunter, he loved NASCAR and going to the casinos. Dan worked for the Village of Hoosick Falls Highway Department for many years.

Survivors other than his wife Stacy include his two sons Daniel Merrills (Heather) and Stephen Merrills of Hoosick Falls. He is also survived by a sister Kim Mason (Paul) of Pittstown, NY, three brothers Denny Merrills of Phoenix, AZ, Mike Merrills of Watervliet, NY, John Merrills (Karen) of Melrose, NY as well as his step-mother Mary Merrills of Mechanicville, NY, six grandchildren, several step-brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his step-father Robert Pilling.

The funeral service was held on Wednesday November 30 at noon from the Mahar Funeral Home in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Wednesday prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Karen and Molly McGovern Fund, Southwestern Vermont Cancer Center or Rensselear County Hospice through the funeral home.
