Luke Rewarded For Exceeding Goal

January 5, 2017 By eastwickpress

by Steve Bradley

In 2015, Luke Hoag set a goal of 25,000 letters in his drive to get funds for the Macy’s Make-A-Wish fundraiser. Luke made that goal last year. [private]When Luke began his 2016 drive, HFCS Superintendent Ken Facin told Luke if (Luke) could exceed his goal of 25,000, Luke would be able to put a pie to the face of himself and other school administrators. Well, Luke far exceeded his goal of 25,000 when he delivered 44,000 letters, worth $88,000, to the Colonie Center Macy’s store.

With the goal far exceeded, Superintendent Facin and five other administrators, Director of Curriculum Pat Dailey, Dean of Students Mr. Torres, High School Principal Ms. Vadney, along with Elementary Principal Ms. Netti and Director of Special Education Ms. Philpott sat in a line-up at the elementary Christmas assembly in the HFCS auditorium and awaited their reward for Luke’s good deed.

Luke pied Mr. Dailey first, then Mr. Facin, Mr. Torres and Ms. Vadney. When Luke was ready to pie Ms. Netti, he leaned over and whispered something in her ear. Ms. Netti stood up and announced that Luke thought that she and Ms. Philpott looked too nice to get pie all over their clothes so they should use their pies on the other people that had already been pied. So they did.

The auditorium full of youngsters loved it.[/private]
